How to get there by motorhome

There are two popular ways to reach the Isle of Skye by motorhome.

The most direct option is to drive via the Skye Bridge, crossing from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin. This is usually the easiest route for motorhomes.

For a more scenic journey, you can take the CalMac ferry from Mallaig to Armadale, which runs from the west Highlands to the south of Skye. VisitScotland also notes the Glenelg to Kylerhea ferry as another mainland-to-Skye option.

From Glasgow, a popular route is via Loch Lomond, Glencoe, Fort William, Invergarry and Kyle of Lochalsh.

From Inverness, follow the A82 towards Loch Ness, then continue west via the A887 and A87 towards Skye.
